My own music

Since my youth, I have regularly recorded improvisations and musical ideas, which have resulted in numerous compositions for various projects over the years. Although composing is my greatest passion, it is often neglected because I am very busy as a live musician. Many ideas therefore end up unfinished in a drawer. But in the meantime, several finished compositions have emerged from these thousands of drafts, covering a broad musical spectrum. From classical piano pieces to big band and jazz to pop songs - my music reflects what I like to listen to myself.

For me, it is crucial that a composition emerges from the moment, usually through improvisation. I only tweak it minimally in order to preserve the originality and magic of the first idea. Every day before I go to sleep, a large imaginary orchestra plays my compositions to me. In my inner ear, I hear a complete symphony orchestra - with strings, woodwinds, brass, percussion, harp and choir - that masters every style. This dream of one day hearing my music performed by a real orchestra has been with me for a long time and has become deeply embedded in my consciousness.

My musical influences are many and varied. I came into contact with the great orchestral sounds of Mantovani, James Last, Paul Mauriat, Ray Conniff and Caravelli at an early age. However, the film music of composers such as Ennio Morricone, James Horner, Vangelis and John Williams was particularly influential. Italian pop music from the 1960s to 1990s and traditional jazz by artists such as Chris Barber, Louis Prima and Louis Armstrong also had a strong influence on me. These influences form the basis of my musical language.

Although I feel most comfortable with tonal music, I am also open to atonal and contemporary works. However, my focus is on a different aspect: for me, it is not so much the technical complexity that counts, but the emotional depth and impact of a composition. What touches me most is music with big, emotional melodies that evoke longing or pure joy.

My taste in music may sometimes be considered old-fashioned, but it is precisely this timeless quality of harmony, melody and arrangement that fascinates me - qualities that also characterise the composers mentioned above. I strive for these elements in my own works in order to achieve emotional depth and impact.

As part of my Bachelor's and Master's projects, I had the opportunity to present some of my compositions and received consistently positive feedback. There are many early ideas and sketches on my SoundCloud channel, which can often be heard in their immediate form and rawness. These imperfect but authentic sketches give an insight into my creative process. In the future, I will regularly publish both new ideas and finished pieces there.
